ABOUT FILOMENA:
Filomena Parra was born on April 18th, 1959, Viseu – Portugal. She has studied drawing and composition with the painter Audrey Engel and currently, is developing her painting skills with the recognized painter Mariza Engel. She graduated high school on “Fabric Arts” at the “Decoration Art school António Arroio”, then graduated college on Technology Education at “Universidade Aberta” and afterwards she got the bachelor’s degree on “Education Supervision and Training of Trainers” at ISCE.
Filomena is a specialist in material technologies, namely: lampwork, fusing (glass partial fusion), origami, embroidered tapestry, woven tapestry, weaving, pottery, serigraphy, quilling and she is a beginner on engraving taught by the famous Portuguese artist, David de Almeida.
She is a professor at Malveira’s middle school, teaching several related classes of technologies and arts.
Mentioned in the local papers of Mafra and Alverca cities, she was part of both collective and individual oil painting exhibitions in Portugal. Filomena featured in the two Artshow editions, at FIL (Lisbon) and Caldas da Rainha. Currently some of her paintings belong to private collections and also to Mafra’s city hall. She proudly won a silver runner & prize at the 1st International Art room at Estoril.
Filomena has three of her paintings in the book: “Próspero – International Art Book” by Insat printing.
